Parts for Telehandlers

Parts for Telehandlers

around the web

Telehandler Parts - The telehandler or telescopic handler is a commonly used machine in agricultural and industrial applications. This equipment is the same in look to a forklift and likewise works in a similar way, though telehandlers are much more like a crane than forklift. It has a telescopic boom that could extend forward and upward from the motor vehicle. The boom has the capability to fit one of several attachments like a bucket, a lift table, muck grab or pallet forks.

Pallet forks are the most popular attachment for the telehandler. This particular machine is most often used for moving loads to and from locations which a traditional forklift will find inaccessible. Telehandlers are especially useful for placing loads on rooftops for instance, or for removing palletized cargo from with a trailer. A lot of the jobs which a telehandler could complete would otherwise need a crane and this piece of equipment can be expensive, not always time efficient and impractical.

Because the boom extends or raises while bearing a load, it likewise acts as a lever. Even with the counterweights in the back, this causes the equipment to become increasingly unstable; thus, the advantage of the telehandler is really its greatest limitation. As the working radius increases, the lifting capacity lessens. The working radius is defined as the distance between the front of the wheels and the center of the load.

For example, a telehandler with a 5000 lb capability with the boom retracted can safely lift as little as 400 lb as soon as it is completely extended at a low boom angle. The equivalent machine that has a 5000 lb lift capacity and the boom retracted could support up to 10,000 lb with the boom raised to 70 degrees. The operator has a load chart to help determine whether a certain lifting task could be completed in an efficient and safe way. This particular chart takes into consideration the boom angle, the weight and height.

Several telehandlers come outfitted along with a computer which utilizes sensors in order to monitor the vehicle. These sensors would warn the operator and some are capable of cutting off further control input if the limits of the motor vehicle are exceeded. Some telehandler types are also equipped together with front outriggers that are known as mobile cranes. These really extend the lifting capability of the apparatus while it is stationary.
